If you are like me, with family scattered around the globe, sharing photos has always been a chore. I have tried posting and sharing pictures on personal websites using Gallery(php) and iGallery(asp). I have also tried other photo sharing sites(Shutterfly, Snapfish, etc.), however, selecting and uploading pictures to the websites takes time.

I tried out Sharpcast, and am really impressed with what I have seen so far. No more resizing, no more uploading (atleast manually), no more organising..seriously, this does it all for you. This is similar to Folder Share (jrausch posted about this a while back) which backs up and synchronizes folders between two devices.

All you have to do is sign up, install the software on your pc and drag and drop the pictures on to an album. Now you can share the pictures with anyone, who can either view it on the website or install the software on their own pc so they can view the pictures offline as well. Any change that you make to a picture or folder is propagated instantly to the website and any other device (includes phones running Windows Mobile 5.0)

So now if I add any pictures to sharpcast on my pc, my parents on the other side of the globe in India will be able to see it right away.
