Pownce API

Welcome to the first installment of my blog.  Lately I have found the need to tinker more than usual, however I do not always have as much free time as I would like.  Juggling free time between a social life, and learning new technologies can become quite a challenge, especially when you get really excited when you find something new.  With all the hype these micro-blogging sites have encountered lately, I decided to join the revolution.

Pownce is one of many micro blogging sites where users can send updates to many people at once.  I have found that I am able to keep most of my friends 'in the loop' if I send them some frequent updates as to what I am up to.  Pownce is great because I am able to send out notices quickly and easily. Moreover, it allows me to view other peoples notices all in one spot.  It's also a quick way to send out links such as YouTube videos, Flickr pictures, random web links or even attach files.  I've found Pownce to be a great tool to quickly communicate with friends and family, rather than sending out emails.

Pownce also recently released their API specifications.  Currently, version 1.0 of the API is available as listed on the Pownce API Community Wiki.  The great thing about the API is that it allows developers to create their own applications to present the Pownce data.  As with all APIs, new Widgets, Mashups, and API wrappers will be created to take advantage of this functionality.  Currently, there are some Fan Projects devoted to extending this functionality, however I noticed no one has started working on a .Net API.  This is where I come in.

Development on PownceNetAPI has begun, and shortly I will provide a link to the source, assembly and sample code.  My long term goal is to create a flexible .Net API wrapper for Pownce, and then write my own desktop application to take advantage of the .Net API.  Stay tuned....
