Q Thoughts
There's been a rumble on the street for quite a while regarding Motorola's new Smartphone, the Q. It's presence was certainly felt at this year's MEDC and now I'm starting to see more main stream marketing around it - no doubt out to silence the Treo.
Toss in the Blackberry and the battle should prove interersting. I'm curious to see how well the Q is received and whether we learn anything about what people are looking for in their Super Duper Phones. Do they like writing with a pen (stylus) or is a keyboard enough? Do I really need to edit my Excel spreadsheet while waiting for the train? Does size really matter?
The Q is a super slim Smartphone with a QWERTY keyboard. New to the Smartphone world is its landscape screen layout. This brings with it the need for a landscape emulator and more thought (or headaches) when designing apps for multiple devices.
Some of the folks here at Clarity have had early hands-on experience with the Q. That's why we've launched a new blog: Q-tips. Posts will include information on new apps that are available, development related topics, opinions, and other gadgety bits.
